What's in the Immersive Experience Room right now?

Spirit of Japanis an immersive experience that offers a contemplative, multi-sensory journey through masterpieces by Ukiyo-e masters spanning the 17th to the 19th centuries. Over the course of approximately thirty minutes, visitors are drawn into the Japan of the collective imagination—a Japan of geishas, samurai, and spirits—gone, yet endlessly fascinating. The story begins with nature: landscapes and the fleeting beauty of cherry blossoms shift into a magical forest inhabited by Yōkai, the spirits of Japanese folklore. Then the sea rises—Hokusai’s iconic Great Wave overwhelms the space, accompanied by Claude Debussy’s La Mer. Geishas emerge from behind folding screens; in twilight, paper-lantern shadows highlight Kabuki actors; the warlike dance of the samurai lifts the pace before the journey settles again among lanterns floating in the night sky. The visuals are completed by a refined musical selection spanning Debussy, Japanese drums, Ryuichi Sakamoto, and contemporary composers such as Hiroshi Yoshimura and Takashi Yoshimatsu, while bringing together 400+ artworks by masters including Hokusai, Utamaro, Kuniyoshi, Hiroshige, Yoshida Hiroshi, Kawase Hasui, and Tsuchiya Koitsu.
